A bilingual collection of student essays inspired by a raw and honest slam poem. The anthology explores themes of migration, memory, social justice, and self-discovery—capturing the diverse voices and lived experiences of a new generation. The cover design reflects this duality and depth, balancing vulnerability and strength through expressive typography and collage photography that honor both the emotional and cultural resonance of the work.

The Process

Inspiration struck, fittingly, at a favorite local coffee shop. A book cover adorned with small trinkets sparked the concept, which was later presented to the client alongside a range of other inspiration pieces—and quickly approved.

Over just a week and a half, trinkets were sourced (with a special nod to Raven’s Roost on Etsy for their incredible finds), photographed, edited, and arranged into the final layout. Several of the pieces were also hand-sculpted from polymer clay to add a personal, tactile element. After exploring multiple color directions, the design landed on a striking balance of deep plum and bright accent tones—capturing both the emotional depth and youthful energy of the collection.
